MYSIA. Pergamon. Circa 166-67 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 27 mm, 12.58 g, 1 h), circa 88-85. Cista mystica from which snake coils; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; between the snake heads, AP above monogram of ΠΡΥ; to left, monogram of ΠΕΡΓ; to right, serpent-entwined thyrsos. Kleiner, Hoard 27. Pinder 104. SNG Copenhagen 427. SNG Paris 1729. SNG von Aulock 7479. Beautifully toned and very well centered, a lovely example. Tiny marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
